Just 2 blonde gringas in the streets of Argentina 11/27/23
Hola everyone!! This week was loco, so let's just get right to it!!
Sometimes I lowkey forget we're just 2 gringas living in Argentina. But then I'm quickly reminded by the old ladies telling us how cute we are and how we need to be careful of all the men. And then even more reminded by the many (usually drunk) men that yell at us from their cars or try to follow us home.🤠 Luckily God's protecting us!! But it’s a little frustrating when the only people who want to talk to us are creepy drunk men with “intenciones muy feo” as the old ladies always tell us.
We also had a fun interaction with a lady who may or may not be possessed! She was in our carpeta as someone to follow up with because she had a lot of interest in the gospel, but had the warning to be careful because she has some mental health issues. So we went by her house to see if she was still interested! While we were waiting for her to come outside this old lady walking past told us not to visit that house, and said she didn't want us to have a bad experience. Obviously we thought that was weird but didn't think too much about it and kept waiting for her to come outside. She came out and started telling us all of these crazy stories like how her sister is Satan! Then she told us we need to say a prayer with her so obviously we agreed!! We went to her backyard so “people wouldn't think we're starting a cult” and we kneeled down, even though her whole leg was bruised from getting hit by a car! She made us hold hands and during the prayer she kept kissing our hands and doing other funky stuff, it literally took everything in me not to burst out laughing. It was so bad. She told us we had to come back the next day, so we agreed and left. But we both felt weird so we asked a hermana in our branch about her and she couldn't believe we went there!! Apparently President Zanni told the hermanas who found her not to go back there because of other wild stuff that went down last time they were with her! Needless to say we have a new red point in our carpeta, and we did not go back the next day!
Anyways, here's some of the more fun notes from this week!!
Monday was Hermana Fernandes’ birthday, so we went back to cute little German town and did an escape room!! We did the hardest room (VIVA LAS VEGAS) and escaped with time and clues to spare!!
Wednesday we had a virtual zone conference so our whole zone met up in Córdoba to watch it!!
Thursday was Hermana Martin's birthday along with Thanksgiving so we did a little party to try and get some of our friends to come. None of our friends showed up, but we had a party with Luis and Robertito!! Hna Gerstner made stuffing and mashed potatoes. I tried to make a pie, but unfortunately it just ended up being really yummy chocolate soup 😅
Saturday we happened upon a huge gaucho parade!!
NADIA AND MIGUEL GOT BAPTISED!!!🥳🥳🥳 This was a miracle to say the least, Satan was working real hard to stop it from happening. But like always, God always comes out on top, and with a whole lot of prayers, and a whole lot of faith, they made it!!!
Not gonna lie, this week was a little rough at times. It felt like we just couldn't catch a break. No matter how hard we tried, people were mad at us for something or things didn't work out. But one scripture that really stood out to me is Ether 12:27
And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them
I know for a fact that without God's strength there's no way we could have made it through this week. And that all of our struggles helped us to turn to Him and be humble. We all have weaknesses, and He knows that. If we let him, He will strengthen us more than we could ever do on our own!!
Love and miss you all!! I'd love to hear from you! Let me know what's going on in your life!!
Hermana Milne🫶
