Fixer Upper 5/27/24

This week felt like we were in our own HGTV show, fixing all the damage that years of elders had made in our pension
Happy to say that:
  • our table top is now attached to its legs

  • the air conditioner actually heats up our room

  • the light in the kitchen can be turned off

  • we can see out of our windows

  • our oven and stove top works

  • we have mattresses that don't have mold on them

  • the mirror is still being hung by a phone charger

The elders left us without gas, so we couldn't cook anything for a few days. We had to get real creative and come up with stuff we could make in the microwave

25 de Mayo! Saturday was a big holiday here in Argentina, like their independence day. They had a ward activity so we got to go meet some of the members and learn how to take the bus here!

Ate locro, which is Argentina's staple holiday dish. I actually have no clue what's in it, a whole bunch of different types of funky looking meat, some beans, and absolutely no salt. Yum🫠

God was definitely listening when I told everyone I like the cold in San Francisco, and he shipped me off to the sierras to freeze🥶

But I'll take freezing in the sierras any day, Carlos Paz gives Santa Rosa some serious competition with its rio ðŸ¤©

We share the ward we're in with 2 other companionships, one of hermanas and one of elders! Sunday after church we got permission to go eat lunch with the other hermanas! I used all of my Argentine cooking skills and whipped up a sauce with just about everything they had left in their fridge

We climbed an actual mountain to visit our friend Federico and his pareja Dennis! He's a capo! Pray for him to finish the divorce process so he can get married to Dennis and get baptized!

Overall it was a good few days! We've still got lots to learn and lots of cleaning to do, but I'm enjoying things being new again!

This week I thought a lot about how to help guide, support, and teach others how to be better when sometimes I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. In my personal study I read the talk “Perfect Love Casteth out all Fear” by President Uchtdorf which is absolutely fuego, I'll link it here so you can go read the whole thing!

Jesus really is our perfect example, He showed us the only right way! He really is on our side! I know that although I'm far from perfect (and still have no idea what I'm doing most of the time), if I strive to share the love that God has for us with others, He will help to change their hearts, and change mine in the process!!
