Tea time! 8/20/24

This might have been one of the weirdest weeks of my whole mission, somehow every single day something crazy came up! But it was so fun!

While we waited for our greenies we hung out in Chacabuco and had an absolute party! We went to the mall for lunch, got pedicures, and made some bracelets for our hijas!

☆ Hermana Jensen whipped up some fettuccine alfredo🤤

☆ Wednesday we got to go see the temple! It was definitely much needed!

☆ After our remi driver missed the turn like 4 times, we made it to the dinner with all the newbies. When we got there all the trainers had already started singing called to serve and so we went running to join in. It was quite the entrance🏃‍♀️

☆ I got my new comp!! Her name’s Hermana Ashton and she's the cutest ever!🤩

☆This transfer both Hermana Gerstner and Hermana Pingry went home so I'm officially an orphan 🤧

☆ Butttt on Friday Hermana Gerstner's family came to have lunch with us! It was actually surreal to be with them, my family had met up with them before to give them a package for me. The best package was the hug from my mom, I can't lie and say I didn't cry…😅 So grateful for all of the forever friends the mission has given me🫶

☆Saturday the ward had a party where they danced Folklor (a traditional argentine dance) It was sick!

☆ Yesterday we had zone conference (hence the email today)

☆ After the conference we went to pick up a coat for Hermana Poole from the mission house. Hermana Zanni asked us if we were hungry and obviously we said yes, and she said “tea time!”, pulled out all her fancy cups and whipped up some mate cocido with toast🙏

I promise that in between all that we did actually work haha, poor Hermana Ashton has been running all up and down the mountains of Carlos Paz like a champ💪

Training has definitely helped me to notice all of the things about the mission that have become so normalized to me by now. Trying all of the Argentine food for the first time, learning Spanish, talking with literally everyone you see. Sometimes I forget that it's not “normal” to have every minute of every day planned out. Sometimes I still feel like I have no clue what I'm doing, or like I'm not good enough, but these last few days have helped me to remember how far I've come, and I've come pretty dang far!

In our comp study we read the message from the 1st Presidency in Preach my Gospel! One part I really liked says:

When you serve a mission with all your heart, you help fulfill the two great commandments: “Love the Lord thy God … [and] love thy neighbor as thyself”

I really am so grateful for the chance I've had to serve a mission, to learn to love God and to love others. There really is no other experience like it. It's definitely not easy, but nothing good ever is! 🫶

Love you all!

☆ Hermana Milne
