Just 2 blonde gringas in the streets of Argentina 11/27/23

Image
Hola everyone!! This week was loco, so let's just get right to it!! Sometimes I lowkey forget we're just 2 gringas living in Argentina. But then I'm quickly reminded by the old ladies telling us how cute we are and how we need to be careful of all the men. And then even more reminded by the many (usually drunk) men that yell at us from their cars or try to follow us home.🤠 Luckily God's protecting us!! But it’s a little frustrating when the only people who want to talk to us are creepy drunk men with “intenciones muy feo” as the old ladies always tell us.  We also had a fun interaction with a lady who may or may not be possessed! She was in our carpeta as someone to follow up with because she had a lot of interest in the gospel, but had the warning to be careful because she has some mental health issues. So we went by her house to see if she was still interested! While we were waiting for her to come outside this old lady walking past told us not to visit that house, a...

Another great week 11/20/23

Hola everyone!!  Not gonna lie I can't really remember what happened this week so this might be a little shorter hahah! But I do know it was another great week!!  We got Nadia on date to get baptized!! We had a super good lesson with her and both felt like she's ready so we gave her a couple dates to choose from and she picked the 26th!! So pray for her because she needs the blessings of baptism and the Holy Ghost in her life so bad!! Also her son Tadeo came to a institute activity and apparently listening to Luis talk about his mission made him want to serve a mission!! So now we've just got to get him baptized so he go serve a mission😅 Some highlights: Language study? It was obviously very productive We made some vegetable cup tart things that were actually so good!! Got to balance out the daily coke and bread with dulce de leche somehow🫠 We went to the chapel to drop something off and found water everywhere, unfortunately there was no mop in sight so obviously the ...

Tienen una sopapa? 11/13/23

This week we learned what a sopapa is! And that we don't own one!! 🤠 but you'll have to email me directly to get that story 🥳!  This week was soo good!! We made lot's of new friends, and got to go to a couple of other little pueblos this week and visit with some inactive members!! We talked to this guy named Juan Carlos, who isn't a member, but gave us a TON of references of people to talk to, and gave us a whole bag full of pastries!! We also got back in contact with Agus, our friend who's had a few different baptismal dates before but hasn't ever been ready. After a super powerful talk with him, we put him on date again so pray for him to be ready this time!! Some highlights/pics: LUIS GOT HIS MISSION CALL 🥳🙀🥹🤟 We had intercambios this week which was a party!! Neither of us knew where we were going, but we made it work!  I've officially been converted to Coke! I don't know if it's different here or if I've just already adapted to life w...

I bought a ZOO! 11/6/23

Hola everyone!!   This week was a party! We had zone conference Tuesday and had what might be the first missionary mosh pit ever to celebrate having 100 BAPTISMS in October!!🥳 The rest of the week we spent clapping houses, teaching english classes, and teaching our amigos! Not gonna lie, some days it feels like we make more animal friends than humans🦧🐈🥳🦚 Basically every house we clap has a few dogs that come running up to us, and then usually come join us on our walk to the next house!  We also met Fredita, who's our new best friend! We fed her some grass and she was ready to come home with us! 🐎 Sunday we decided to go do comp study outside by the river because it was a nice, warm day. So we brought all of our stuff and got all set up, and after like 5 minutes something fell from the tree above us and hit Hna Gerstner, long story short she got pooped on🐦‍⬛. I think I must just be bad luck or something cause I'm 2/2 for comps getting pooped on 🥸  Anyways… h...

Amo Cordoba 10/30/23

I'M IN ARGENTINA!! I left Mexico at 5 am on Thursday, and finally made it to my area on Saturday at 10 am! So there were a few longg travel days 😴 yesterday I had to fight hard to keep my eyes open all day long, but overall I've loved it so far!! I could probably write a whole book about this week, but I'll try to keep this short! Some highlights/photos: This week was filled with soo many goodbyes and last times, which was so sad! For a while I felt like I'd never leave the CCM but the next thing I knew I was on a plane to Argentina! But I'm so grateful for all of the people I met in Mexico, they really did become my second family!! Hna Trejo 🩷 Our walks with the elders🤠 Hna Karren 😭 this goodbye was definitely the hardest, I'm seriously so grateful for her! She set the bar real high for the rest of my comps. But I know she's gonna kill it in Chile!!!  Now for the part I know you've all been waiting for, Argentina!! Sorry I've been real bad at ...

Living on a Prayer & Dr. Pepper 🙏10/18/23

¡Hola everyone!  This week actually flew by! Friday was honestly one of my favorite day's I've had here at the CCM, class was good, they had cinnamon rolls for dessert 🤤, and then after our night class it was POURING rain, so Hna Karren and I made our elder's come dance in the rain with us!! I've decided dancing in the rain is actually my favorite thing ever! God is seriously too good!! Some highlights/photos: For our service this week we got to clean the abandoned building!  All of the cute hermanas in our ward! 4 of them are leaving this week😭 so our relief society is gonna be real small on Sunday Elder Jones during every 5 minute break This might be the most accurate photo of our district we've ever taken Spiritual thought:  On Sunday we had a devotional from Elder Bednar and I was literally speechless. It was so good!! The point of his talk was that "the character of Christ is that he turns out when the natural man turns in". At the hardest times i...

Idk yuh 10/11/23

¡Hola everyone! I've officially been a missionary for a whole month! Which is actually so wild. Time has definitely started to speed up, this past week felt more like a month than a year so that's something! But I really have loved being a missionary, and I can already tell the next 17 months are gonna fly by! Spanish is hard but it's definitely coming! It's funny looking back at my first weeks here and how I literally understood nothing. My first Sunday I remember sitting in church and just having no idea what was going on, but this last Sunday I could actually understand a majority of what people said! God is too good!! Some highlights+, photos from this week: The earthquake alarm went off at like 11 one night and we had to evacuate. No one actually felt an earthquake, and we were outside for like less than 5 minutes but that was a party  Hna Karren (in 0.5) after we found out we're stl's through an email, it was all in spanish so we had to look up what herm...
