Hola todos!!  It was another super good week here in San Fran! I'm finally starting to remember peoples names and how to get places which is very helpful! On Friday we were out working with one of the cute members who's about to leave on her mission and this old man outside of his house started talking to us. Obviously we were happy to talk to him and tell him all about Jesus! He started talking about how nobody dies and all this stuff. He then told us that he has a shrine of a 5 year old girl who died and asked if we wanted to see it. Obvio we said no, and tried to end the convo, after a few more minutes of him rambling (and calling me beautiful) we left and went on our way. Then a few days later I was looking at the carpeta and realized that he was a red point, and the elders that made it said “Suerte (No Lo Contacten Literal, Tiene Un Demonio)” which basically means: good luck, he's got a demon. Whoops lol Some fun highlights: We went to CĂłrdoba and I did my trámites so ...

Since I wrote my last email literally like yesterday there's not a ton of updates, but overall San Fran is seriously so awesome!! All of the members here are literally the best! There are 2 girls who just got their mission calls to go to Brazil in April, and one more who is waiting to get her call! And all of them said they can come help us whenever we need! So member lessons are about to be popping off this transfer!! We also somehow happened to meet soo many of the members in our first few days, one of them pulled over his moto to introduce himself, and we ran into like 4 other members just walking in the streets! Literally everyone is so excited to have hermanas, the elders before us were awesome and were killing it, but this area just really needed some hermana love! So we're gonna be nice and busy this transfer! Our pension is far from ideal but I'm learning to love it, cockroaches, broken fridge, cold trickling water and all We also took literally no photos these last...

So basically so much has happened in the week and a half that I don't even know where to start!  We had a conference with Elder Costa! It was seriously soo good! Afterwards we had a little meeting with only the hermanas and hermana Costa which was literally incredible! I always love conferences, but this one was by far the most spiritually uplifting experiences I've had so far! Brahian got baptized!!! This was seriously a miracle, basically everything that could go wrong, went wrong. But in the end it all came together perfectly!! We put a fecha on our friend Alma!! Her mom is an inactive member, and her grandparents are both members. And she is sooo excited to get baptized!!  On tuesday night I found out that I'm leaving Santa Rosa to go to San Francisco! (Argentina not California:)) and my new comp is hna grimshaw! She's seriously the cutest! This is her last transfer which is loco! And we're white washing an area that had elders before! Overall I'm super sad ...

Talk to me please! 1/8/24

Summer Vacation is starting here and it is actually crazy. Centro is always packed, and the rio is full of drunk shirtless men! One day we were walking back at night and there was even more drunk kids out than usual, one kid started yelling at us in English, “where are you from”,“come backk, talk to me pleasee” which we thought was pretty funny The other hermanas have this friend named Brahian (bryan) who was supposed to get baptized yesterday! They scheduled his interview for Thursday, but they had to go to CĂłrdoba that day so me and my comp went to help him do the interview! The day of the interview, the hermanas message us and say that Brahain doesn't have his phone anymore, so if we see him in public, remind him about the interview. Basically we never see him, and he doesn't show up for the interview. We decide to try and call his phone number to see, and this dude answers and says that he's Brahian’s friend and that he gave him the phone, but he didn’t know where he wa...

Chao 2023!! I actually can't believe it's already new years! Time is seriously flying by! But I'm so excited to get to spend all of 2024 as a missionary!! I've already met so many incredible people and learned so much in the past few months! This time last year I didn't even think I wanted to serve a mission, and now there's no place I'd rather be! It's crazy how things change! This week we met Sol, who actually might just be the sweetest person I've ever met! We had one lesson with her and it went soo good! She bought us some juice and we talked all about the gospel by the river! For New Years we got to stay out late again! We went and had dinner at a members house and it was a party! We bought this minions sparkling cider to share! Little did we know it was actually nasty lol. Luckily we had Coke as a backup In literally all of our conferences and meetings this week we talked about the importance of setting goals and making plans to accomplish them...

This week was quite literally a party!  With all of the christmas parties this week, we only had a few full days of work, but boy did we work on those days. Hermana Pingry has been training me up on making contactos in the street, which is definitely not my favorite thing to do. But it is fun to see people light up when we talk about Jesus, and to hear all about people's lives! I've gotten really good at my lines: “somos misioneras por la Iglesia de Jesucristo...”, “somos de los estados unidos”, “La capilla es…” and so many more! A quick rundown+pictures! Nacho got his mission call!! He got called to Buenos Aires Sur! Which is the same mission as another sister from the branch and everyone was soo excited!! We had our christmas conference this week which was a party!! I got to see hermana gerstner   we had a talent show, and then did a little secret santa gift exchange! Hermana gerstner had me, and gave me what might be the best gift I have ever received!!! DR PEPPER...

Hola everyone!! This weekend was seriously full of miracles!! Friday night we went to visit Nadia and Miguel (our recent converts) and Miguel's son was there! They had been telling him about the plan of salvation, and he wanted to know more! So we taught him all about God's plan for us, and it went so good!! Then the next night we went to visit them again and another one of Nadia's sons was there!! I literally had Deja Vu. We taught him all about the plan of salvation and how we're here to be happy! He said he's gonna come to church next week with Nadia!! Literally loco!!  And the biggest miracle of all!!! ANA AND GABI'S PAPERS CAME!!! Ana and Gabi are our friends who have been waiting for months for Ana's birth certificate to come so that they can get married and get baptized! Gabi is the older brother of Luis, who starts his mission next monday, so we've been praying that the papers would come before Luis leaves. But not gonna lie, we were starting to ...

Luckily this week was a little more chill, but it was still packed full of fun things!! We had transfers!! I'm staying in Santa Rosa, but I have a new comp! Her name's Hermana Pingrey and she's another cute blonde gringa!!! Saying goodbye to Hermana Gerstner was seriously so sad, it's crazy how close you get with someone when you spend literally every minute of every day with them! But I'm so so excited for this next transfer!! The people here in Santa Rosa are seriously the best!! Now that I've officially finished my first transfer in the field, I figured I'd give you a quick rundown on Argentina and all of the fun things I've learned! Be friends with: Remi drivers (Andres ) Panaderia workers Old ladies that like to bake There are dead, smooshed frogs all over the roads, the other day we counted 20 on the way to our friend’s house! I still haven't tried mate cocido, but terere is soo good! Liver isn't as bad when you don't know that you'...

Just 2 blonde gringas in the streets of Argentina 11/27/23

Image
Hola everyone!! This week was loco, so let's just get right to it!! Sometimes I lowkey forget we're just 2 gringas living in Argentina. But then I'm quickly reminded by the old ladies telling us how cute we are and how we need to be careful of all the men. And then even more reminded by the many (usually drunk) men that yell at us from their cars or try to follow us home.🤠 Luckily God's protecting us!! But it’s a little frustrating when the only people who want to talk to us are creepy drunk men with “intenciones muy feo” as the old ladies always tell us.  We also had a fun interaction with a lady who may or may not be possessed! She was in our carpeta as someone to follow up with because she had a lot of interest in the gospel, but had the warning to be careful because she has some mental health issues. So we went by her house to see if she was still interested! While we were waiting for her to come outside this old lady walking past told us not to visit that house, a...
